The Lights are The Mother's Power

The Divine events occur by the influence of the Divine. It is the human instruments selected by the Divine to execute the Divine events. Cast,  Creed and Religion are regardless here. Mr. Golam Rahman Mullick(62), a polite and spiritual gentleman of ex-UNICEF officer lived in Dhaka who was a great Devotee of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. He visited Sri Aurobindo Ashram Pondicherry in end eighties and met several senior Sadhaka in the Ashram. Suddenly he had been informed a name of another person in Dhaka who was also an exclusive follower of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother since his student life of early forties. The name of this great devotee was Professor Abul Kasem Joardur(72). Mr. Golam Rahman got his Dhaka address from Ashram and after coming back to Dhaka, he met with the Professor in his Santinagar Residence. Both of them exchanged their views about Sri Aurobindo’s Philosophy,  their own involvement, correspondence with Ashram etc and discussed each other to put forth the activities of Mother’s works in Bangladesh. Between the two gentlemen, prof. Abul Kasem Joardar witnessed the Mother in early sixties and had been blessed by her grace. They discussed regularly how to establish an active Centre in Dhaka. In view of that Prof. Abul Kashem discovered another parson named Prof. Madal K Dey(44), the Departmental Head of Chemistry in Central Women’s College Dhaka who cordially invited them to get together at his residence in R.K. Mission Road Dhaka . In the first sitting they concluded to continue the weekly meditation programmed at Prof. Madal’s  Residence on each Thursday evening. Prof. Madal Dey also invited some young chap like Amiya Mukharjee(25) and Mrinal  Kanti Sarkar(25) to join in the weekly meditation Programme at his residence. The sessions were going on peacefully at Prof. Madal Dey’s residence. Mr. Golam Rahman Mullick one day proposed  to form a organizational structure and all of them agreed to proceed further. Therefore Prof. Abul Kashem Joardar took the responsibilities and sent a letter to the Managing Trustee of Sri Aurobindo Ashram Pondicherry (Dyuman Bhai). After some days later, a letter came from Dyuman Bhai  with a proposed  name “Sri Aurobindo Mandir Dhaka”. Everybody was happy for this Ashram message but there was an objection about the word “Mandir”. Therefore, again Prof. Abul Kasem Joardar appealed to Dyuman Bhai to re-think the name of the Centre. Finally another name was sent from Ashram with a little amendment of previous one “Sri Aurobindo Centre Dhaka”. Everybody accepted it. Thus from 1990 Sri Aurobindo Center Dhaka was established receiving blessing from Ashram and Prof. Abul Kashem Joardar was the founder President of the Centre. All the three founder devotees are no more today but the seed they sow in the soil of Dhaka for Mother’s work  grows like a tree of branches and lot of people are now under this umbrella of the Mother to run the Centre towards its unique goal.
